Perinatal Therapy & Therapy for Moms in Wilmington and throughout NC
Becoming a parent is one of the greatest joys and biggest challenges that we can experience in our lifetime.
Does being a parent look different than how you imagined? Or are you struggling to decide if parenthood is a journey that you want to embark on?
Becoming a mother is considered one of the biggest changes, both physically and mentally that a woman can go through, and while it can be a joyous time, motherhood comes with its own unique challenges.
If you find yourself struggling with:
Finding time to prioritize your own needs
Becoming angry with your children and struggling to manage your own emotions
Deciding if or when you want to have children
Believing in your own abilities as a parent

We’ve been there, and we want to walk through this with you. We believe parenting shouldn’t happen alone, and we’re working to create a new experience for parents at all stages, from beginning to end!
How Perinatal Therapy Works
Finding time to prioritize yourself when you are also tackling all of the “firsts” that come with becoming a parent can be a huge challenge. We ensure the best use of your time at Full Circle Therapy by incorporating evidence-based practices with our own lived experiences, having gone through many of the same things in our personal lives. Learning to challenge negative thoughts, set appropriate boundaries with family, friends, and work, and even identifying your values as a parent to make choices that feel in alignment with who YOU want your family to be can all be part of your therapeutic journey.
Therapy is beneficial throughout the entire perinatal journey, even before conception! If you are questioning whether parenthood is right for you, or working through the anxieties of deciding to conceive, working with a licensed specialist can be incredibly helpful. The same is true if you are pregnant and now are walking through all of the doctor’s visits, decision making, and joys of preparing to bring new life into the world. We don’t believe in shaming the fears, worries, and questions away- we embrace them all as a part of this wonderful-and scary- process.
While the term “fourth trimester” is not a true medical definition, anyone who has gone through the newborn phase can tell you that it is 100% a reality of welcoming a baby (or babies, hello multiples!). The hormone drop that occurs after birth is the largest hormonal shift a woman will ever experience in her life- of course we need a community of support around us during this time! Unfortunately, this is also one of the most isolating times for new parents, and postpartum anxiety and depression are very commonly developed during this stage. At Full Circle Counseling, we are honored to walk alongside you through this monumental time and help develop your ideal experience as a parent.
You want to do parenting your way & the best way for your child.

Yes! There is so much more to becoming a parent than conception. If you are questioning taking this journey, or would like to work through some fears and worries before conceiving, therapy can help you do so in order to walk confidently into the next phase of your life.

Absolutely. Dads are going through so much on their own path to parenthood. While you may not be experiencing the physical symptoms of pregnancy, or the hormonal shift of postpartum, your life is changing too! Fathers are such an integral part of a child’s life and we can help make sure you have the support and tools needed to be the partner and parent that your family needs.

We know your time as a parent is already stretched thin! But as they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So we ask that you prioritize some time for yourself, and we ensure that your time is put to good use by using evidence-based treatments. We also pride ourselves on being flexible. We offer virtual and in-person appointments, and believe “some is better than none” by working with your schedule, budget, and needs on an individualized plan.

If you are here, therapy will help. The most important thing we can do is acknowledge when things aren’t working. Once we’ve done that, we can ask for help and get the support we need. Taking time to dig deep and ask the hard questions is never time spent in vain. Wanting to do better means you are already an amazing parent- we want to make sure you can see that, too.
